Singapore Airlines has done it, and so has Scoot (to negative backlash). Now Jetstar Asia has soared onto the SG50 livery bandwagon as well to show their love for Singapore’s Golden Jubilee celebrations — but with a different twist.
Instead of slapping on a simple red and white design on their planes, Jetstar has instead chosen to feature 50 faces of everyday Singaporeans on its A320 aircraft. Designed by local artist Michael Ng, the livery consists of his distinctively bright and whimsical aesthetic, which also features local unsung heroes nominated by their friends and family.
You’ll see the likes of Chua Bee Ngoh, professional who’s left a comfortable job here to help the poor in Cambodia; Mohamed Ridhuan Bin Ahmad, a firefighter in Changi Airport; Suherwan Abu, a local arts scene veteran of 25 years; and many more personalities.
“Jetstar Asia is pleased to unveil the commemorative livery that represents the spirit of the people of Singapore,” says Jetstar Asia CEO Barathan Pasupathi. “Our SG50 campaign to connect Singaporeans across the region has culminated into this portrait on our A320 that we are proud to fly across 22 destinations across Asia.”
The plan was unveiled earlier today at Changi Airport at a celebratory event attended by the 50 featured people with their loved ones. This SG50 livery, we approve greatly (sorry Scoot).
