64-year-old man arrested in connection to Geylang Lorong 23 murder

Nearly two weeks since the bloodied, topless body of Goh Eng Thiam was found on the kerb of the road at Lorong 23 Geylang, a suspect has been arrested by the police.

A 64-year-old man was apprehended in connection to the murder case that took place on July 9. Police were alerted to the scene near Victory Food Court where they found Goh lying motionless on the ground, sporting a deep cut from the left side of his ear to the top of his head.

It is believed that Goh died following a violent fight; investigators found several weapons such as a long wooden stick and a short knife at the scene.

The suspect will be charged in court today with the offence of murder, which carries the death penalty. He will be the third suspect charged for murder in this week alone — one was involved in the death of a man at Boat Quay while the other was connected to a grisly death of a woman whose remains were found at Lim Chu Kang
